Chained tasks

A chained task is a task that has a necessary order of completion with one or more other tasks.

These tasks are defined in the Task Definition operational data with the following requirements:

  • The first task definition must have at least one of: Initial Hours, Initial Days, Initial Cycles

  • The first task definition must have a Scheduled From value which is not NA

  • Except for the first task definition, all task definitions must have a Scheduled From value of NA

  • Except for the first task definition, all task definitions must have at least one of: Repeat Days, Repeat Hours, Repeat Cycles

There are 4 types of task chains that Fleet Planner supports, which each have additional requirements:

  • Non-repeating chains: [A - B - C]

    • No additional requirements

  • Repeating chains: [A - B - C], [A - B - C], [A - B - C]...

    • The last task must specify the first task in the Chained Tasks column

    • The first task must specify one of: Repeat Days, Repeat Hours, Repeat Cycles

  • Non-repeating chains with a repeating following task: [A - B - C], C, C, C...

    • The last task must specify at least one of: Repeat Days, Repeat Hours, Repeat Cycles

  • Non-repeating chains with a repeating following chain: [A - B - C], [B - C], [B - C], [B - C]...

    • The last task must specify the first task of the repeating chain in the Chained Tasks column

(in the above example, task C would specify task B in the Chained Tasks column)

Note: Once a set of chained tasks has been added to a plan, it should not be modified.
