Tasks
A task is a specific maintenance activity that must be performed on an industry-defined schedule or as a result of an aircraft fault.
A task definition is a description of a task, including its name, how often it should be scheduled, what aircraft it is applicable to, and how it relates to other tasks.
Tasks are scheduled based on operational data, especially Task Definitions, when a plan is created or scheduled. They may be moved by reassigning them to another visit, or by moving the visit to which they are assigned.
When uploading data to implement new tasks, be aware of the following scheduling rules:
-
Tasks described in the Task Definitions file must also be listed in the Task Applicability file to be applied to an aircraft.
-
If Last Done information is not provided, tasks will be scheduled based on the Calculation From value defined in the task definition. Supplying Last Done values improves the accuracy of forecasting due dates.
- Repeating tasks can only have one terminating task. The terminating task must be listed as a Task ID in the Task Definitions file and have the same applicability as the repeating task.
- Any task may terminate a repeating task.
